Storm recovery update (8:20 a.m. Aug. 13)

Cleanup efforts continue with crews from Dyer Construction and Joe’s Tree Service traveling from neighborhood to neighborhood to remove debris.

Please be patient as the recovery work progresses. Officials estimate the amount of tree damage from Tuesday’s storm is 3 to 4 times more than what Merrillville experienced during the June 11 tornado.

To assist with storm cleanup, residents are encouraged to move branches to the curb so crews can collect them.

Town Hall remains closed to the public on Thursday, Aug. 13. A reminder that Merrillville Town Court hearings scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today (Aug. 13) will be continued and rescheduled. If you have a hearing scheduled at this time, the court will notify you about your rescheduled hearing.

Town Court will resume at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
