Merrillville experiencing strong year of development

Development remains strong across The Heart of the Region, with the Planning and Building Department issuing 892 building permits through July 1. These projects represent more than $126 million in estimated construction value, demonstrating the confidence that residents, developers and businesses continue to place in Merrillville. The projects have generated more than $1.2 million in permit fees,

So far this year, permits include:

• 687 miscellaneous improvement projects

• 184 commercial projects

• 12 residential duplexes

• 9 single-family homes

Whether it's a homeowner making improvements, a business expanding or new housing being constructed, these projects are helping strengthen our local economy and enhance the quality of life throughout our community.
