Emergency declared after storm
With the extensive amount of downed trees and power lines following Tuesday’s storm, residents are urged to avoid moving fallen branches and other debris until it is certain they aren’t mixed with downed power lines. Please contact the Street Department at 219-769-6784 or at merrillville.in.gov/service to report downed trees, power lines and other debris blocking roadways.
Town Council President Rick Bella on Tuesday signed a proclamation declaring a local disaster emergency in Merrillville following Tuesday’s storm. This document activates Merrillville’s emergency response and recovery plans.
The town has deployed five crews from Dyer Construction and Joe’s Tree Service to remove trees and debris from roadways.
