Merrillville Fire Department Golf Outing to Benefit Hoosier Burn Camp

Get ready to hit the links and support a great cause as the Merrillville Fire Department hosts its 2nd Annual Golf Outing Sept. 1 at the River Pointe Country Club, 6700 Country Club Road in Hobart. All proceeds will support the Hoosier Burn Camp, which helps young burn survivors.

Entry to the Golf Outing is $100 per golfer. The fee covers golf with a cart, drink tickets, and a goodie bag.

There also are a variety of sponsorship opportunities for the event.

Call or text Pat Nawracaj at (219) 308-1974 or send an email to mefdgolfouting@gmail.com for more information and to register.

On Sept. 1, activities for the Golf Outing begin at 8 a.m., when registration starts, the range opens, and breakfast is served. Golfing begins at 9 a.m. with a shot-gun start. Lunch will follow golfing.

All of the proceeds from the Golf Outing will be donated to the Hoosier Burn Camp. The organization focuses on helping youth who suffered a burn injury or were treated for a burn injury requiring hospitalization in the state of Indiana.

At the Hoosier Burn Camp, participants can build self-esteem and realize their potential while also learning to deal with the physical and psychological scars of burn injuries.

Campers accomplish this while taking part in a variety of activities such as canoeing, fishing, archery, and horseback riding.

It costs nearly $1,000 to host each child at the Hoosier Burn Camp, but the program is completely free to families of attendees because all costs are paid directly from donations.

Help the Merrillville Fire Department continue to support the Hoosier Burn Camp by participating in the Golf Outing.
