Residents can vote for Merrillville’s next slogan

Town residents have an important decision ahead of them as they go to the online polls.
Residents have the opportunity to choose the Town’s next slogan by visiting https://www.merrillville.in.gov/government/town_council/new_town_slogan.php to cast their votes for the option they believe best represents Merrillville.
“I am excited to work with the residents on this project,” Merrillville Town Council Vice President Rhonda Neal said. “Engaging the community in choosing a new Town slogan is a great way to foster local pride and involvement.”
The Town asked the community to provide ideas for the next slogan, and more than 40 entries were submitted.
“We had quite a few,” Town Council President Rick Bella said. “I was really impressed.”
Merrillville officials narrowed those suggestions down to the following five options:

  • Merrillville is not a Place, It's a People
  • Merrillville: Community, Progress, Possibilities
  • Merrillville, Indiana - Unity in Diversity
  • Merrillville, The Heart of the Region
  • Merrillville, Rooted in Tradition, Growing in Unity
Neal said voting will continue for up to three weeks, and the option that receives the most votes will become the next Town slogan.
“There are some very nice ones to choose from,” Neal said.
The winning slogan will be used in a variety of ways in the community. The Town plans to incorporate the slogan in new welcome signage. It will also be featured on Merrillville’s website, social media pages, and other materials.
