Merrillville Storm Water Management Board Meeting

April 1, 2008

President Bud Crist called the Merrillville Storm Water Management Board meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Member in attendance was Dorinda Gregor. Member Barbara Ghoston was absent. Staff members present included Community Development Director Howard Fink, Town Engineer Steve Benczik, Public Works Director Bruce Spires, Councilmen Tom Goralczyk and Shawn Pettit and Clerk Treasurer Gene Guernsey.

Dorinda Gregor motioned to approve the March 4, 2008 and the March 18, 2008 Merrillville Storm Water Management Board meeting minutes, seconded by President Bud Crist. The March 4, 2008 and March 18, 2008 Merrillville Storm Water Management Board meeting minutes were unanimously approved.

Mr. Fink provided an outlined community meeting draft agenda for the Storm Water Management Board having topics that will be necessary for discussion and interest.

Our storm water management information for proposed utility fees that which was to be placed in the Merrillville Newsletter was not printed due to lack of space.

President Bud Crist stated he attended an Environmental Health and Safety Seminar on March 27, 2008 and passed out information for the Board to read.

Councilman Tom Goralczyk and Shawn Pettit, Clerk Treasurer Gene Guernsey and Community Development Director excused themselves to attend another meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Town Engineer Steve Benczik updated the SWM Board on the Broadfield flooding issue and possible solutions. Councilman Shawn Pettit will remain in contact with the Lake County Surveyors Office for possible funding assistance.

Next scheduled meeting is May 6, 2008.

Dorinda Gregor motioned to adjourn, seconded by President Crist.
