Welcome to the Merrillville Police Emergency Response Team. The Merrillville Police Department Emergency Response Team (E.R.T) is comprised of 9 dedicated police officers who are specially trained in the areas of special weapons and tactics. Team members are selected from both patrol and detective bureau and are required to attend basic SWAT training. They are required to maintain top physical condition.
The Emergency Response Team's function is to safely resolve critical incidents. They are called upon to handle barricaded gunman-hostage situations, execute violent felony warrants, parole warrants and drug search warrants. |
