For your Information: The E&L Trail was recently repaved. We completed the installation of a Solar Bench where you can relax and charge your phone or tablet. Other improvements are on there way. New benches, seating areas and new signage will be installed. BE CAREFUL, we will have construction vehicles on the trails to make these improvements.


"NEW FOR 2018" REGISTER FOR PARK CLASSES, ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMS on-line
If you are a current customer, you can now register for park activities and programs from the comfort of your home or work. Simply go to the "Town of Merrillville" website and click on the top right, "I Want To" and click register for park activities. You can now register for classes and pay from the convenience of your own home. You must have previously registered with us and given us your e-mail address.  Your e-mail address is your temporary username and your household number in our system is your temporary password.  If you have not registered with us before, you can e-mail us a copy of your driver's license and a phone number and we will e-mail you back your temporary password once we put you in our system.

Pruzin Community Center Rental Information
The room that we hold our program activities during the week is available to rent on the weekends. For rules and regulations and all rental information please visit our Documents Page

Pruzin Community Center Activities

We have several daytime activities for adults:
Mondays we have Yoga from 9:30-10:45am, Pinochle from 11:30am-2:30pm 
Tuesdays we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9am, Senior Morning Aerobics from 9:30-10:30am, Useful Spanish from 11am-12pm
Wednesdays we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9am, Phitt Ball from 9:15-10am, Bicycle Club from 9:30-11am, Ballroom Dance from 10:30-11:30am Yoga from 12-1:15pm. 
Thursdays we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9am, Senior Morning Aerobics from 9:30-10:30am, Beginners Salsa Dance from 11am-12pm, Purdue University's Nutrition Program led by a student from Purdue that runs for 6 week from 12:30-1:30pm.
Fridays we have our Senior Luncheons with Speakers with games following on the 2nd Friday of each month.  Our Day Trips are usually planned for Fridays.

Evening activities for those 16 and over:
Mondays: Dance Fitness Fun 6:30-7:30pm
Tuesdays: Ballroom Dance 6:30-7:30pm, Salsa Dance from 7:30-8:30pm
Wednesdays: Useful Spanish 6:30-7:30pm, Mindful Movement 7:45-8:45pm
Thursdays: Adult Self-Defense 6:30-7:30pm

Youth Programs for those 5-15:
Mondays: School Age Karate 5:15-6:15pm
Thursdays: School Age Karate 5:15-6:15pm

Fees for the various programs can be found on our Activities Page by clicking on the program you are interested in, or you can stop in to the Pruzin Community Center and pick up the individual registration forms. Watch for upcoming events and activities. Classes are ending for the 2018 year.  We will begin registrations for 2019 classes and programs beginning on January 2nd.

Merrillville Parks Department ADA Transition Plan
The Town of Merrillville strives to assure that pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Town of Merrillville Parks and Recreation Department is committed to identifying, updating and/or renovating all public parks to comply with the ADA and ABA (Architectural Barriers Act). It is our commitment to the residents of the Town of Merrillville that we will dedicate $75,000 annually with Community Capital Development Funds improving accessibility within our parks over a five year time period, complying with the guidelines set forth with the United States Access Board and standards for accessible design.
