As of October 1, 2012, the civil department of the Merrillville Town
Court will no longer accept new filings. All existing judgements will
be enforced.
Court Sessions: Monday 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday 1:00 p.m.
Claim Limit: $3000.00
Filing Fee: $139.00-$10.00 extra for each additional defendant
Filing Schedule: Mon., Tues., Thurs., & Fri.-8:30a.m.-4:00p.m.

The Civil Division of the Merrillville Town Court was established in 1996 to better facilitate access to the court system for the citizens of Merrillville and Lake County. The court operates under the small claims rules of procedure. This allows citizens to use the court without the necessity of retaining an attorney. Cases are heard in matters such as contract disputes, collections, and eviction. Office staff is available to assist in all aspects of procedures and form preparation.
